Room was available when we booked…just before flying…only to find out upon landing it wasn’t…then, while presumably trying to be kind, switched the reservation to a National chain hotel. It took an hour of customer service time to hopefully ensure no charges. We will see. Never again!!

Beautiful, historic landmark hotel for the area. The Port lounge downstairs, staff, and food were amazing. The establishment's unique history was intriguing. The friendly,approachable staff were terrific.

We enjoyed our time at the St James Hotel and in Red Wing. The restaurants in the hotel are excellent and more reasonably priced than some hotel restaurants are. Our room was a little small with just one small window and the mattress is soft and sags toward the middle.

Comfortable, unique, helpful staff

My family stayed in several rooms here for a mini family reunion and we all had a great experience. Everyone at the front desk was friendly and went out of their way to help us. My room had a lovely view of the river. We all enjoyed looking at the historical exhibits around the hotel. Red Wing is a cute town too.

This is a very old and well-known hotel in the heart of Red Wing Minnesota. The staff were amazing and even went so far as they leave a nice card in our room to help us celebrate the reason we were staying there. The room was clean and had wonderful historic decor. Vibrant, wallpapers, old, classic furniture, etc. This is not a negative, but please know that the room we stayed in did not have a refrigerator, or microwave. I wouldn’t expect that in a historical setting like this, but I wanted to point this out in case somebody plans on bringing their own food or beverages. Maybe some rooms have that option, I did not request it, and like I said, please don’t view that as a negative remark. You can find many wonderful options for dinner and shopping either on site, or very close by. When in the area, please make sure you take some time to visit the Mississippi river, which is close to the hotel, take a hike up the Bluffs, which are also close by, and enjoy the sounds of the trains that pass by occasionally.

The St. James is the most amazing hotel. The charm and elegance of the grand old St. James is everywhere throughout the place. Food is really good. The rooms are numbered and Named. When checking out, make sure you are packed and out of the room. Even the check out process is so efficient.
