Maui is served by three airports. Most visitors choose Kahului Airport (OGG), the largest of the three, as there are numerous car rentals available. Lahaina is a former whaling village and is still an active fishing community. The peak vacation period is during the winter months, but the weather on the island is ideal all year long, so summer is also wonderful time to stay in Maui.
