Attractions and Tips
When in San Antonio, visit the Alamo former Franciscan mission that was famously the site of a pivotal 1836 battle. Located in central San Antonio, the Alamo is open for tours daily. Treat your kids, or just yourself, to a marine-life show with a stop at SeaWorld. For some added culture, explore the San Antonio Museum of Art. This museum isn't as large as some but does house an impressive collection of Native American, Spanish colonial and Latin American art. To escape the throngs of tourists, head to Brackenridge Park. This 343-acre park offers greenspace, jogging trails and even a Japanese Tea garden.
To stay within walking distance of many of San Antonio's most popular attractions, choose a hotel in Downtown or River Walk. For a neighborhood with a slower pace that still affords close proximity to shopping, select Alamo Heights. San Antonio is relatively warm 12-months a year. If you don't want to fight the heat, avoid visiting from May to September when the mercury traditionally climbs.
