About this property
Unique Private Glamping Experience Nestled in the Blue Ridge Highlands.
The unique accommodations and experience of Lost Forest is the only one like it in the area. You will enjoy secluded luxury glamping conveniently located just minutes from the Appalachian Trail, Grayson Highlands State Park (home to several herds of wild ponies), Whitetop Mnt, Mount Rogers, The Virginia Creeper Trail, and the town of Damascus.
High in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, Lost Forest is the perfect mountain getaway thoughtfully designed for couples and solo travelers, seeking a private and unique experience surrounded by nature.
The property consists of seven wooded acres surrounded by The Jefferson National Forest in The Mount Rogers National Recreation Area. From the campsite, you will hear the peaceful sounds of a mountain stream that runs through the property. It is common to see wildlife such as deer, birds, butterflies, and various small woodland creatures in the area. The campsite is down a short path about 250 feet from the parking area.
Upon arrival, you will enjoy a spacious four-season canvas tent in a beautiful private setting surrounded by nature. The outdoor space includes an attached porch with comfy deck chairs, an adjacent firepit with a seating area, and a picnic table. The living area includes a queen bed, comfortable linens, extra blankets, nightstands, lanterns, towels, a kitchenette with a gravity sink, a 14-gallon cooler, and a dining table. A private outdoor hot shower and restroom are located next to the tent.
In addition, we provide a propane cooktop (with fuel), an over-fire cooking grate, pots & pans, cooking tools, dishes, potable water, lighters, cleaning supplies, several games, and reading materials. There is complimentary coffee, tea, cream, and sugar and one complimentary smores kit. A tabletop BearVault is provided for the safekeeping of all provided food.
We are conveniently located near some of the most beautiful spots in the entire Blue Ridge Highlands area. We are just a few miles from fantastic hiking on the Appalachian Trail at the Elk Garden Trailhead. You'll have access to some of the best hikes in Virginia, including my favorite, up Whitetop Mountain to Buzzards Rock.
We are only 13 miles away from the entrance of Grayson Highlands State Park. Grayson is well known for herds of wild ponies and outstanding views.
The famous Whitetop Station on the Virginia Creeper Trail is only 10 miles away. You'll find a bike rental shop nearby to set you up with everything needed for a fun and unforgettable ride down the famous Creeper Trail.
Just 15 miles away is the friendly little mountain town of Damascus ("Trail Town USA"). Damascus offers restaurants, shopping, hiking, fishing, biking, bike rentals, shuttles, and miles of trails. Make sure to stop by The Damascus Trail Center for a full lay of the land.
WIFI
There is no wifi or electricity in the glamping tent or campsite. However, you can access wifi from the parking area and a portable battery pack is located in the tent to charge devices.
This is the only campsite on the property. Our home is also on the property but far enough away from the campsite that you will have complete privacy. There are cats, chickens, and a rooster who also live on the property. They are all friendly and mostly stay away from the campsite. However, you may see them from time to time.
*NOTE* Guest safety is our top priority. The space is ideal for mature adults and is not safe for infants and children or suitable for people looking to party. We live full-time on the property and ensuring the area remains quiet and peaceful is very important to us. Please plan accordingly. Guests who present safety hazards, loud guests, and guests who break the rules will asked to leave without a refund.
