It is 2 minute walk a Basketball Court and Bakery. Your can walk to Road Town in just 7 or 10 minutes for Banking, Shopping, Restaurants and the Ferry Dock to other islands like Anegada, Virgin Gorda and St. Thomas to name a few. If you are going to be mainly in the capital you really do not need to rent a car but I recommend that you rent one if you want to explore the rest of the island.
