Very disappointed.
I loved the house but there were so many things wrong , it was hard to enjoy it. The cabin, porch, and grill were VERY dirty. Inside the floors were not mopped There were only seven forks( for up to 15 people.) I knew we would see a few bugs but i didn't count on multiple mice (which we saw every night) there were droppings and traps everywhere, so keep nothing on the counters! We never saw the dock it was to overgrown

A Perfect Quiet Retreat
We enjoyed Blue Wing Landing for three nights with my wife, our four children ages 15 to 8, and my father. The history of the property is incredible and the setting is idyllic. The most vivid experience was the fireflies in the evenings with the adjacent fields and surrounding trees offering an incredible light show. I appreciated the out-of-the-way location especially the accompanying quiet of the property. The accommodations were definitely comfortable for our group. The kids enjoyed the kayaks and we did make use of the outside fire-pit for roasting marshmallows! The river access required sure footing with a slippery slope down to a dock that was not in very good shape. The pond and paths around the property offered plenty of exploration.

Our Second Trip to Blue Wing Landing
The perfect off the beaten path inn for a senior summer camp experience complete with a lake and access to a river. A great historic house and cabin. Lots to do on the grounds. A great base for daily local excursions.

Great Experience!
The house and grounds are absolutely beautiful. There is plenty of room for the family to congregate in and outside the house. The grounds are beautiful with plenty of safe places for kids to run and explore. A lot of work is put into maintaining the property. There were a few things that weren't expected/great for our group. I was unsure of check-in/out procedures until the day of. You do have to schedule time to meet to be let into the house. Amber and Will were very nice and helpful when we met them. The house is not wonderful for toddlers The stairs are steep and each individual step is not very wide making it where you have to think about the placement of your foot on each step. The windows are not sealed as a paper in the house stated. My three year old was fascinated with the locks on the upstairs windows as they were perfect height for her. She was able to open a window in the time it took me to put toothpaste on my toothbrush while in the same room with me. The overall cleanliness of the house was great especially in kitchen and bathrooms a few bugs/dust in corners which is to be expected in an old house. The couches were definitely dated and worn out. We were unable to find baking pans in the kitchen which we needed for several meals, but we were able to make do. We were slightly disappointed in the "swimming" and lack of cows. We went in knowing swimming was only a possibility, but the water in the river was running fast and there was no way to easily get in and out of the water. The trail to the river was beautiful but the short distance between the trail and the dock was hard to walk, especiallywith a 3 year old and 68 year old. There were no cows on the property which we were all looking forward to. The drive to the Ark was a bit further than the discription, but not too bad. The overall experience was wonderful and we would definitely return if the opportunity presents itself. We wish we had more time to explore all the hiking trails and do some kayaking.

Beautiful retreat!
This home is WAY off the beaten path. So beautiful!!! This historic home is clean, fully functional and well equipped for family time and meals. We loved kayaking, fishing, games, and hiking the vast property. Kitchen was fairly well stocked; better than most vrbo’s. The only down side was no cell service or wifi. Had an unexpected situation at home that required many hours away from the family spent at the local library for cell signal and internet access. We still didn’t want to leave. This place was absolutely gorgeous!!!

What an amazing experience! It was an honor to be able to stay in such a historical home on such beautiful property. The owners are the most personable people we have ever dealt with when renting. The home is fully stocked and to our surprise air conditioned. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
