The Historic Post Office, Le Bureau de Poste
Summary:
Built around 1885, the post office was the first building erected by settlers in the region. The postmaster Nobert Desormeaux who arrived in the region in 1890 lived in the Post office for most of his life. The lake was called Lac Desormeaux from 1932 to 1957 in honor of Mr. and Mme Desormeaux.
Breathing history with its unique charm, you will find an oasis of calm surrounded by outdoor activities for outdoor lovers. In the summer it's the hiking and mountain biking, in the winter it's the snowshoe or fat biking. All of this within 200m of the house. If you are a skier... You are in luck as there are multiple ski hill such as Tremblant within 30 min of driving distance.
The House resides on .75 acre of land with access to 100feet of beach at the church beach across the street. (The church is also owned by Trailside). There is also access to the public beach for individuals with mobility challenge as the trail to get to the beach is steep.
The property was purchase in June of 2021 and there is still work to be done such as painting and cosmetic repairs around the house.
The Space:
Over the years, the owners of this property have respected the initial architecture of the house. Is it crooked in multiple places? You bet and that is what makes it unique. Most of all the property is surrounded by outdoor activities.
- There is a washer and dryer in the basement, please note the staircase is very steep. The basement also has access from the exterior in the back of the house.
- Linens, pillows are included.
- All cooking apparatus are included.
- Wood fire is included.
- A functioning bbq wit propane is included.
- Beach towels, life jackets are not included.
Guest Access:
Guest will be able to access the whole residence. There is actually 8 rooms but there is one vacant room and one room in renovation. The basement is accessible by the back of the outside as storage. It is an unfinished basement.

The twisty road beside the lake makes a scenic walk at sunset. For the more adventurous, there is the 10 km of trails 500m from the residence.

We bought this property for outdoor lovers because it was beside 10km of mountain bike and hiking trails in the middle of the Laurentians. There is also access to the lake with a dock to chill on. It's also 20 min from Tremblant, 30 min from Montebello and 20 Min from Ripon.
