"This place is AMAZING! The decor and overall vibe of “brooding romantic” is done perfectly. The staff was amazing on every shift, the complimentary breakfast has one the best spreads I’ve ever seen, the onsite bar was lively most nights with good drinks, an experienced, friendly bartender and useful hours. The hotel was generally well booked and I rarely heard another guest, the rooms were unique and as nice as the rest of hotel was. Only downsides would be the parking situation which, is most conveniently, found across the street in the parking structure at $10/24hrs max, $1/hr and the tub/shower could use updating, at least in the room I was in. Put in a nice walk in shower with a rain head and side jets and I would’ve probably just moved in. I stayed here for a week total with 2 extensions because of work issues and the staff was so accommodating, service was amazing and I KNOW that I was a pain sometimes, they never made me feel like one. I stay in a lot of hotels while traveling for work and at this price point, as well as many above it, it was hands down the best I’ve ever experienced. Bravo to those involved in making this hotel what it is, I hope I return to Des Moines just for a chance to experience this place again."

"Our 1 night stay was well worth it. The hotel was clean and welcoming. Check in was simple and the receptionist was so nice, very informative of hotel amenities and accommodating with any needs and questions. Our room was clean, had all the expected hotel room needs. Beds were very comfortable (1 more pillow per queen bed would be rad so if there's 2 people each get two pillows).The pool area was also nice, clean, and everything worked. I felt very tended to by all staff from check in, to in the hallways and at breakfast, they were friendly, helpful, and made our family feel seen. It was a great trip and stay for our family, thank you! "

"The old hotel has been updated in a delightful way. The location is great for walking in the downtown area. It's close to a couple of great music venues as well as a sculpture park. On street and garage parking. Excellent (though pricey) restaurant onsite."
