Cancun's main airport is the Cancun International Airport (CUN), which is the second-busiest airport in Mexico. It mainly serves Aeromexico and Interjet domestically and American Airlines and Air Canada internationally. CUN provides competitive deals on flights to local and international destinations on a daily basis from this vacation hub. Do take note that the Mexican government levies a charge of close to $45 to leave Mexico from the airport. While most U.S. flights have this fee incorporated into the flight ticket purchased, this is not usually the case for UK bound flights. Facilities provided by the airport are top-notch, and include a quick money exchange, duty free shopping in terminals 2 and 3, dining at the Corona Beach Bar, and car rentals.
Cancun Weather
The city of Cancun has a tropical climate all year round, with hurricane season during the summer and fall. The most pleasant weather is experienced from December to April, which also has a smaller crowd of vacationers. The best time for budget travelers to schedule Cancun flights is during the "low season" of May to November, when there are bargain flights and affordable hotel rates. It is also good to know that the thimble jellyfish can be a hindrance to your beach plans if you are there from April to July, as they are known to be dangerous. Be sure to bring along your sunscreen on Cancun flights and when you hydrate, only drink bottled water.
Getting Around Cancun
The preferred method of transport is the local bus service. Affordable at an opening around 70 cents, be sure to carry small change in Pesos, as American currency is not accepted. The buses are mostly without air-conditioning, so a more comfortable option would be a taxi, with cheap fares. Be aware of the value rides cost, as you can haggle the price down if you're clever. You could otherwise travel in a colectivo, a shared taxi service with a smaller price to pay. The final, most flexible option is to rent a car, which is by the far the most convenient as far as saving time.
