Our experience at the Grand Park Royal in Cancún was nothing short of incredible. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm smiles, exceptional service, and an atmosphere that instantly put us into vacation mode. Every staff member we encountered went above and beyond to make us feel cared for, but one person truly made our trip unforgettable: Johan. Johan was, without a doubt, the highlight of our stay. His kindness, attentiveness, and genuine desire to make sure we had the best experience possible stood out every single day. Whether we needed recommendations, help with reservations, or just someone to brighten our morning with great conversation, Johan was always there with the most positive energy. It’s rare to meet someone who not only loves what they do but also makes you feel like a valued guest every step of the way—he absolutely did. The resort itself was beautiful—spotless rooms, breathtaking ocean views, delicious food, and great amenities. But what truly sets Grand Park Royal apart is the level of service, and that’s thanks to incredible people like Johan. If you’re considering a stay here, don’t hesitate. VIP Experience Did Not Match What Was Advertised We booked the VIP package through Expedia, and unfortunately the stay did not meet the standards we expected. The resort itself is pleasant and our upgraded room was nice, but the level of service, especially the assigned VIP butler, was far below what was advertised. Our butler, Yajahira, contacted us several times the first night for minor things, but on the day of our hibachi reservation (when she told us she would walk us there), she did not call or follow up at all. She later claimed she was “waiting at the photo station,” which we had never been shown. Because of this miscommunication, we had to ask staff around the property for directions, arrived a few minutes late, and our seats were given away. When we explained the situation, her response was simply, “It’s not my fault.” We did not meet her in person until that moment, which is not the level of service expected with a VIP booking. Additional issues affected our stay: • A constant sewer smell in the bathroom • Cross-contamination at the breakfast buffet with shared spoons • Very limited snack bar options if you don’t eat beef • The 20% spa discount we were told we had did not apply at checkout • Massage therapist noticed a reaction to the scrub and removed it silently before telling us Overall, the resort has potential, but the VIP experience, communication, and service quality did not match what was promised when booking through Expedia VIP. Really nice room. Staff were 50/50 excellent vs not good. Check in was a mess, VIP benefits - I was told one thing but then another. Thought we had reserved seats on the beach / pool and either couldn’t find them or told we were in the wrong area, no one pointed us to the right area. Just a lot of confusion made for a bit of a bummer of our short stay. Wasn’t very relaxing.

My wife and I booked the beachfront room on the adult only side for 7 nights from Oct 17-24.We LOVED everything about the resort.We had a special check-in area that was very quick. We were shown around the property while our room was being prepared (we were early). Our room was just like the photos. 2 balconies with a perfect ocean view. We really enjoyed the bed facing out towards the ocean. We would watch the sunrise from bed.The bathroom was large with a jetted tub. Everything was very clean, the room, the grounds, the restaurants. We were given a concierge, who booked our reservations for dinner, private covered beach beds, and the spa. The staff was great and always happy to see us. We made sure to tip a couple $ for our drinks and 5-10 $ after every meal. The grounds crew were constantly working to keep them spotless and well manicured. The beach was beautiful. I think seaweed season is over in October, so there was just a little amount everyday.They combed the beach every morning with a tractor.The food was wonderful! Even the buffet had a variety everyday with a made to order station for every meal. We loved having breakfast at the Mexican restaurant. Koi was our favorite.We went there 2 nights plus our concierge was able to get us at the hibachi table a third night. We do recommend doing the time share presentation right away,just so you don't get asked everyday. Be honest and tell them no if not interested. Overall WONDERFUL!

We booked this resort because it said Adults Only. This is not true. Even the “VIP Villas” we were staying in had children next door to us. We were very disappointed at the misleading marketing that it’s an adult only resort. We were never offered a room upgrade or any special amenities for our honeymoon.

The room, the staff, the service all impeccable. The only let down for me was the food. The buffet restaurant option is very simplistic and bland. Not enough choice and not replenished frequently, nothing was ever hot hot. I don’t know how children survived on the food in this resort as there was not enough really catering to children’s palettes but that wasn’t my concern. The Italian was basic and horrible (my friend experienced having the same exact watery tomato base in his starter and main course, the Mexican made my friend ill, only the oriental restaurant got a revisit from us. Did not visit the steak house as that was an additional cost for dinner and if the quality of the food in the other restaurants was anything to go by we didn’t want to risk it. The other restaurants on site were never all open at the same time, one was always shut. Even the buffet was closed one day which we found shocking but thank goodness we stayed in the Royal tower in a select room so we had the option to use room service multiple times a day for food which you you can’t in the standard rooms (only once per day) so we did end up going into town to find authentic Mexican food. Thank you to Yajahira my butler as she made things easier for us by fulfilling requests such as making reservations and securing Bali beds for us. The room service staff were also very pleasant. I would go back to this resort for the rooms and service but not for the food which is a shame as it’s a big aspect.

Room in the select part is amazing for the most part. Great design and comfortable. Downside is that I had no hot water for the duration of the stay in both the sinks and the hot tub. Hot water was only available in the shower, I raised a repair order twice but nothing changed. Food in this hotel is DIABOLICAL. I cannot stress how bad the food is here. Most days at least one restaurant is closed. I got food poisoning from the Mexican one, which took me out for 2 days, apparently they use unpasteurised cheese. Room service is a joke, quality is poor and this is the only all inclusive hotel I’ve ever stayed at where the buffet closes on some days. Staff are mostly good, they’ll try selling you a vacation plan aka “timeshare”. Location is great. To summarise, the hotel is in a great location and has great amenities. The food is beyond terrible which let it down for me and on that basis, I wouldn’t return.
