Attractions and Tips
Located about 100 miles south of Charleston, Savannah creates a blend of history with modern sites to enjoy. The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, as well as the Owens-Thomas House, are great locations to tour and take photos. River Street, located in the Waterfront District, is a great place to enjoy fresh seafood and much of the nightlife of the city takes place here when the sun goes down. Plan to explore it on foot. City Market is close by and is a little more vehicle-friendly. Here you can check out the restorations made to the area to bring back its life in the 19th century.
Spring and summer tend to be an enjoyable time in Savannah, as so many things are in bloom and the weather tends to be ideal. A variety of events happen around this time, as well. January and February experience a real drop in temperature, preventing some from enjoying all of the outside activities.
