Memphis International Airport (MEM) is located south of Memphis, between I-55 and I-240. Take the Airways Boulevard exit on either highway and then merge onto Plough Boulevard to enter the airport.
When you’re travelling to Orlando International Airport (MCO), flight times are usually around one hour, not including a brief layover in either Atlanta or Charlotte. Downtown Orlando lies nine miles northwest of the airport and can be reached via South Semoran Boulevard and the Holland Expressway.
Attractions and Tips
Orlando is home to several major amusement parks, including Disney World, Universal Studios, LegoLand and SeaWorld.
Orlando also features several golf courses, most notably the famous Bay Hill Club. The Kennedy Space Center lies on an island east of the city, and has a large visitor’s complex featuring restored spacecraft.
Orlando’s weather is hot and humid in the summer, with temperatures often reaching the low 90s. Afternoon thunderstorms are common. Winter temperatures are moderate, and the humidity drops significantly. Snow is extremely rare, but be prepared for rainfall.
Orlando has a wide variety of hotels and resorts from which to choose. Most of the major amusement parks have one or more hotels on or near the grounds, while other venues take advantage of the area’s many lakes. Beachfront hotels can also be found, although they are more distant from the city center.
