About Trisha Yearwood
Born on September 19, 1964 in Monticello, Georgia, country music star Trisha Yearwood was raised in a rural southern community and developed a love for country music at a young age. Her early influences were country legends such as Patsy Cline and Hank Williams, before her tastes transitioned to rock bands such as the Eagles and the Allman Brothers. After high school, Yearwood attended Belmont University in Nashville. While at Belmont, Yearwood secured an internship with MTM Records, serving as a receptionist. Her work impressed her bosses and she was hired the following year after graduation. Yearwood's job at MTM Records placed her in a prime position to kickstart her career in Music City. She began working as a back-up singer for a number of renowned artists including Garth Brooks, working on his hit 1990 single "No Fences." She also released a number of demos during this time, and as a result of her professional involvement with Brooks, Yearwood later signed her first contract with MCA Records.

Her first single, "She's in Love with the Boy," also proved to be a critical and commercial success, reaching the coveted No. 1 spot on the country music singles chart. Her work has received notable critical acclaim. She is a three-time Grammy Award winner, as well as a three-time Country Music Award winner. She has also received recognition from the prestigious Academy of Country Music, picking up two awards for her myriad contributions to the industry, as well as an American Music Award. Her extensive career has earned her praise and recognition from figures such as Luciano Pavarotti and Bill Clinton, subsequently performing at the latter's presidential inauguration. In 2000 she received yet another high honor - she was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.
Finding Success Outside of Music
In addition to music, Yearwood has successfully dipped her toes into other areas of the entertainment industry. She first tried her hand at acting, appearing as a guest star for a multi-story episode arc on the hit CBS show "JAG." More recently she has focused on a burgeoning career as a culinary sensation. She has released three cookbooks since 2008, and has hosted her own cooking show, "Trisha's Southern Cooking," on the Food Network. She returned once again to music in 2014, releasing the album "Prizefighter." The album was a hit and featured a collaboration with revered artist Kelly Clarkson.
