Internet Sensation

LANY, pronounced (lay-nee), got their start in a Nashville apartment in 2014. The three musicians had previously been friends working on independent music projects but decided to work together for fun to see what could happen. They uploaded their content anonymously onto SoundCloud, not expecting much. The two songs that the group uploaded, “Hot Lights” and “Walk Away”, spread all over the world, resulting in the band becoming the most streamed band on Spotify’s Discover Weekly feature. LANY is made up of Paul Jason Klein on vocals, piano/keyboards, and guitar, Jake Goss on drums, percussion, and sampling pad, and Les Priest on keyboards, synthesizers, guitar, and backup vocals. The band decided on the name, LANY, because it represents all their US fan base, from LA to NY.

LANY has a distinct sound, unlike any other. Their music is classified as Indie Pop, Synth Pop, and Dream Pop, although they are anything but your basic pop boy band. Their use of synthesizers and techno beats while maintaining an easy to listen to and melodic feel is what sets them apart from the rest. Their relatable and well written lyrics are something that anyone can appreciate. LANY’s fan base ranges from young to old, are all around the world, and are loved by many. Although the band is young by most standards, they are making noise in the music scene and can only get better as they record more music.

LANY has toured with multiple musicians such as Twin Shadow, Tove Styrke, X Ambassadors, Troye Sivan, Halsey, Zella Day and Ellie Goulding. The three-piece was also lucky enough to open for one of their biggest influences John Mayer in 2017 for seven of his shows on his “The Search for Everything” tour. The band has performed at numerous festivals, including Bonnaroo, Firefly and Outside Lands. LANY has headlined a total of 6 tours, ‘The Make Out Tour’ in 2016, the ‘Kinda Tour’ in 2016, the ‘LANY Tour: Part 1 and 2’ in 2016 and 2017, the’ LANY World Tour’ in 2017, and the ‘2018 LANY Tour’ in 2018. LANY’s top hits include ILYSB, Good Girls, Super Far, and Thru These Tears. ILYSB reached number 37 in the US top charts and was certified RIAA Gold. The bands studio albums include LANY, 2017, and Malibu Nights, 2018.

LANY Tour 2021

2021 was the year LANY came back to the performing stage after years off from performing. With support from Keshi, the group hit the road at the end of 2021 for their North American leg of the tour. The indie pop group released a new album in 2021 that they promoted on their end of the year tour. The tour started in Montreal in October and continued to hit the major cities in North America. LANY performed in New York, Detroit, Nashville, Miami and more in 2021. The last tour date was in San Francisco at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, a great way to end the road trip.
