About Ellie Goulding
British pop sensation Ellie Goulding was born in Hereford, England on December 30, 1986. She attended the University of Kent in England to study drama but was introduced to electronica music and quickly found that she wanted to pursue music. Growing up, Goulding had a fondness for folk music, but she was so infatuated with electronica that she moved to London after two years of college to start a career as an alternative singer/songwriter. There, she made friends with producers Starsmith and Frankmusik who helped her incorporate the electro-pop style to her music. Goulding shares that her inspiration comes from an eclectic group of strong female artists like Florence + The Machine, Imogen Heap, Lauryn Hill, Rihanna and Amy Winehouse. Her first major label deal came with Polydor Records where producers helped her experiment with indie pop, synthpop, folktronica and indietronica sounds.
Goulding broke onto the scene with her smash hit, "Starry Eyed," which dazzled audiences across the world. The debut album, "Lights" even made it to the number two spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 list. Since, she has produced hits like "Burn," "Black and Gold," and "Love Me Like You Do," which was featured in the movie Fifty Shades of Grey. Other famous artists started begging to perform with her, including performers like Zedd and Major Lazer. Despite her insane popularity, you can still find some pretty cheap tickets to her shows!
