Born in San Francisco, Bob Weir had a tumultuous childhood. He picked up the guitar as a teenager and, after meeting Jerry Garcia, decided to start the Grateful Dead. After the Grateful Dead dissolved, Bob Weir continued to work with the remaining members in groups like The Dead and Dead & Company. In 2016 Bob Weir branched out yet again, writing a new album of "cowboy songs," sparked by memories of working on a ranch as a teenager.
