About Grateful Dead

In 1965 the peace-loving rock band, the Grateful Dead was born in Palo Alto, California. The band became the staple of the psychedelic 60s era when they combined music genres like blues, folk, country, rock and roll, jazz and of course, psychadelia. The main members of this group included Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh and Mickey Hart, although it included others over the years like Keith Godchaux, Robert Hunter and Donna Godchaux. Their sets were known to be lengthy performances, which earned the band a very loyal and famous following known as the Deadheads. Because of the psychedelic nature of this music however, many concerts ended with arrests, and in some cases death at the hand of drug overdose. As a result, the band released public service announcements urging their fans to act responsibly.

Rolling Stone magazine has honored this band by listing them as No. 57 on the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. In 2007, the band received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. The Grateful Dead has sold more than 35 million albums worldwide, featuring hits like "Casey Jones," "Truckin,'" "Touch of Grey" and "Friend of the Devil." Of course, 50 years of music produced many more hits - hits that caused Deadheads to purchase their cheap Grateful Dead tickets to concerts around the country.

Grateful Dead tours had nationwide followings and played more than 2,300 concerts. Deadheads were so loyal they would purchase Grateful Dead tickets for entire concerts, and would follow the band for months, if not years on end. If you were looking for cheap tickets to one of their performances you got it- they have been said to have performed more free concerts than any band ever. In 1973, half a million people attended the band's concert in Watkins Glen, New York. In 2005, the band reunited for a series of farewell concerts called Fare Thee Well: Celebrating 50 Years of the Grateful Dead, but promised another tour that would feature artists like John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti. This band is incredibly loyal to their fans- cheap Grateful Dead tickets are just one of the ways they thank their fans!
