After a chance meeting in a club, Big Kenny and John Rich found a musical kinship that spun into a songwriting collaboration. They were soon writing songs for artists like Jason Aldean and Martina McBride, but it wasn't until the early 2000s that the duo decided to record their songs themselves. Their debut single, "Wild West show," attracted attention on the Billboard country singles chart, hinting at the huge success Big & Rich was to become. But it was their song "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)" that made them radio hits and country music golden boys. Horse of a Different Color was released in 2004, impressing critics and listeners with its rock and rollin' good-time attitude. In 2008 the band shocked fans with the announcement of a hiatus, during which the musicians developed solo projects. But four years later they were back in the studio together again. Fans welcomed their fourth studio album, Hillbilly Jedi, in 2012.
