Top Competing Team
FC Bayern Munich was founded in Bavaria, Germany. They are one of the most storied and successful clubs in all of soccer. Competing globally and nationally at the highest level of the sport, the team is the most successful German soccer team. Since their creation, FC Bayern Munich has obtained 25 German championships, five European cup wins, and one FIFA Club World Cup victory. The team is the largest sports team in Germany, and they are the fourth largest football club in the world based on revenue earned.
History
The club was first founded in 1900 when a Munich-based gymnastics club decided to create a football club. Initially the team played local opponents, quickly rising in the ranks as a dominant force in the area. In 1910 the team joined the first Bavarian league and brought home their first title that same year. After the first World War left much of Germany in shambles, the team reunited on a much larger scale officially becoming the largest football club in Munich. Although the team was off to a great start, they did not win their first national title until 1932 when they defeated the team from Frankfurt. From 1965 to 1979 FC Bayern Munich saw a lot of success, bringing home several national and international titles. For the next two decades the team faced economic turmoil, ultimately trickling down to the on-field performance of the players. The early 2000s saw a lot of hope for the team after such a long period of losses. Today after several periods of highs and lows, the team remains the top team in Germany.
International Champions Cup
Teams use the International Champions Cup to warm their players up before the start of the regular season. Often friendly competition between national teams, it also allows for teams to finalize any decisions on line ups for the regular season. The International Champions Cup is often played in the Summer in neutral countries such as the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Australia. In 2019 Bayern Munich appeared in two friendly games, both in the United States. They faced off with Arsenal in July at the Dignity Health Sports Park and Real Madrid in July at the NRG Stadium. Cheap tickets to the friendly games sold out fast to fans who were eager to see their favorite international teams play on American soil.
Since its establishment and very humble first few decades, Bayern Munich has gone on to feature some of the world's best soccer players and become the most beloved team in Germany and one of the most legendary names in European football. Find tickets to see this iconic club compete while you can!
