The New York and Boston teams were main rivals in the early 2000’s but still remain very competitive when they play each other. The Boston Celtics entered the league in 1946 and are one of the most successful NBA teams to date. The Brooklyn Nets started out in New Jersey before finding their home in Brooklyn in 2012. They entered the league in 1967 but have not found much success over the years and are still looking for more championship trophies. The Nets and Celtics have played each other over 200 times with the Celtics winning well over half of those games. Even though the Nets have a long way to go to catch up to their rival. Due to being so close geographically and their growing rosters in the early 2000’s, the two teams developed a rivalry that will always exist. The Nets swept the Celtics in the 2003 playoffs after dealing with some back and forth tension between the players all season. The tension between the players even carried on after the Nets went to Brooklyn in 2012. In one Celtics Nets game, Rajon Rondo, Gerald Wallace and Kris Humphries were all rejected and suspended for games after and some players were fined. A trade deal in the following season between some of those players made the teams and even the fans believe that the rivalry was still on the table. Celtics players Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce were dealt to the Nets in exchange for Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries and more. The trade sadly lead the Nets to a few unsuccessful seasons, they only won one playoff series with Garnett and Pierce.
