The pool area was messy no towels not enough seating no employees around anywhere. Bathrooms were very small, chairs in the lobby area looked very dirty.
This is the second time we have stayed at the Menger Hotel and the service is great. Th e only issue involved the air conditioner not working properly. The hotel moved us to another room the next day and everything was good.
loved our stay.gave my daughter pamphlets about the history and when she asked the employees about their personal paranormal experiences they were all friendly and told their experiences.this hotel also has THE BEST aroma ....i couldnt stop talking about it.they should sell the scent online.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The ghost are not what is scary.
The place was falling apart. Paint was chipping of the walls. Carpet was old and worn out. The tub was literally falling apart. You could break the plastic of and it was missing in areas.
The Menger is a beautifully maintained step back into the turn of the last century. If you love history, this is one of several amazing options occupying space literally on the Alamo battle ground. Walking distance to hundreds of shops, dining options and historic locations. Friendly and helpful staff in all areas of the hotel. Top it off with a bar that was once the haunt (and perhaps still is?) of Teddy Roosevelt. Can’t recommend enough if the historic is your preference.
Loved the hotel. Only thing was the room was very hot. It was set at 68 & still was about 75 in room. Sleeping was uncomfortable.
Otherwise everything else was great
Had reserved two rooms via hotels.com and requested in notes to have side by side or on same floor at least. This was ignored and I was told I should have called hotel to make that type of request. Room was nice and cool during hot summer. Ceiling fan made clicking noise that was bothersome. Had to turn up tv to tune it out. Will stay there again. Beautiful, historic hotel and close to many San Antonio tourist destinations.

It’s is right in the middle of downtown with the Alamo right in front and the mall on the other side excellent for just walking around and getting to where you want to go without the trouble of parking. Valet is a bit expensive at the hotel. The staff is super nice and very helpful the hotel has an old antique look and feel which is a nice change from all the generic ones.
Wonderful old hotel with so much history. I will stay here again! My only complaint was that room service was sometimes unavailable or incomplete. I didn’t get all that I ordered for breakfast but wasn’t charged for unavailable items. Twice I called for room service and had to go to the bar to order. That isn’t much when you consider what a beautiful old historic hotel this is. Easily accessible to touristy active ties.
Great location for a fun night on the town. Rooms are dated but that’s what we loved about it. It wouldn’t be right if it was all new. Love the hotel and the history. Our bathroom cupboards kept opening when no one was in there lol
this was a one night stay for a quick trip to San Antonio. The location is perfect - right next door to the Alamo, across the street and youre on the Riverwalk. Valet parking very efficient. The hotel is beautiful - historic decor throughout. The balcony room was lovely - overlooking the large pool - 9 ft at the deep end. The 1st time I've been to a pool with a carpeted deck - nice touch! Poolside drink and food service also. The staff were 100% top notch - everyone, including a maintenance man passing in the hall greeted us enthusiastically like they were happy to be there! Sets a nice tone
