We received a call while at the airport leaving for MSY informing us that due to the recent hurricane, we were being transferred to Lamothe House.
The staff was very friendly and did their best to accommodate us, but we have a couple complaints. First, we were told that our room was only supposed to be serviced every 3 days. We had to hunt down towels daily so we could shower. One of the desk clerks Gabby, was very helpful and helped us get a bicycle cab to our tour, and was always smiling and gave great service.
We were also disappointed that there were groups of homeless people collected around the corner our entire week there. We realize this is not the hotel’s fault, but nothing was done to discourage this and made walking to the corner store unsafe in the evenings.
The hotel itself had great charm with ornate history, but it ends there. After long days walking in the French Quarter, we were looking forward to soaking in the hot tub that we were told about, but that also was not working and apparently hasn’t been for some time.
Sadly we will not be returning to this property the next time we come to New Orleans.
