First of all, the great breakfast buffet, and very very helpful staff kept me from rating the hotel as “poor“. But it didn’t save the day to get anything ranked above three stars. I stayed there on a brief stop over in Honolulu on my way to one of the other islands. My goal was to get five hours of sleep, 1:30 AM to 5:30 AM, but the air conditioner was so loud I couldn’t fall asleep. I tried watching TV, but the air conditioner was louder than the TV. I finally unplugged the air conditioner, only to make sleeping almost impossible because my room was next to the freeway, and all I could hear was the very very, very loud noise of cars going up and down the freeway right next to the hotel. My room was in the 1100 block of rooms. Had they given me a room on the other side of the pool I probably would’ve slept like a baby. So if you’re going stay at this hotel, don’t accept any of the rooms adjacent to the freeway, which I think might be numbered to #1100-1200. I ended up getting 30 minutes of sleep. (I probably could have gone back to the hotel management at 1 or 2 or 3 AM and asked to change rooms, but in the middle of the night, I just didn’t feel like packing up stuff and trying another room.
