About UConn Huskies Football
The Huskies have made one of the most dramatic entrances into Division I-A football in recent history, the bubble of excitement around this program only growing. Be there on game day! Pick up your cheap University of Connecticut football tickets today!
Staking out their Turf
The University of Connecticut fielded their first football team in 1896, back when it was called Storrs Agricultural College. The early years laid the groundwork for deeply emotional rivalries, and to this day UConn-Rhode Island games and UConn-Yale games are some of the most intense of the season. Throughout the decades, the Huskies gained traction on the field. In 2000 the University of Connecticut achieved Division I-A status, winning their first match of the season against Buffalo. The move was not without its difficulties, but the Huskies leapt into action in 2002, achieving a stunning victory over Kent State in their final game in Memorial Stadium, the 63 points they earned the highest number they had ever scored in a single game there. The Huskies moved to Rentschler Field, and in 2004 the team joined the Big East. That season they scored their first ever bowl slot at the Motor City Bowl. The team's ambitions kept increasing, and in 2014 the Huskies joined the American Athletic Conference, already in a historic position of strength against their conference opponents.
With the return of Coach Randy Edsall, who led the Huskies to five bowl games in the 2000s, fan excitement for Huskies games has skyrocketed. Be part of the UConn mania by getting your cheap University of Connecticut football tickets here!
