Achieving a Decades-Long Dream

While the Texas A&M women's basketball program officially began in 1974, it would be two decades before their first marker of national success. Seeded No. 2 in their region, the Aggies easily toppled No. 1-ranked Baylor in the Elite Eight and pulled off a stunning one-point victory against Stanford in the Final Four. They then had to face off against former champion Notre Dame, but Texas A&M managed to secure their first national championship title by a six-point margin.
