Bringing the revival of thrash metal

Testament got its start in 1983, founded by guitarist Eric Peterson and singer Derrick Ramirez. The early years were tumultuous with lineup changes, but once Testament released The Legacy in 1987, they were an immediate thrash sensation. They bolstered their fan base by touring with greats like Anthrax and Megadeth, releasing their sophomore album, The New Order, to mainstream success. Despite being labeled as instrumental to the second wave of thrash metal in the 1980s, their music has continued to evolve, ranging in topics from the occult to modern corruption, moving from thrash to death metal. The 2012 album Dark Roots of the Earth and the 2016 record Brotherhood of the Snake both broke into the Top 20 of Billboard 200. They've toured with some of the giants of heavy metal like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Black Sabbath, as well as accompanying Slayer on their 2018 goodbye tour.
