Take Me Out is one of the most popular sport-based plays currently showing. This play first premiered close to 20 years ago and was written by the popular American playwright Richard Greenberg. The play originally staged out in London at the Donmar Warehouse, in association with the Public Theater. The play takes a unique look at the locker room of a professional baseball team. Much of the issues with baseball decades ago including racism, class issues, homophobia, and even masculinity in sports. A History of Take Me Out
Take Me Out first premiered in London back in 2002. The play was immensely popular at that location. Therefore, a few months later, Take Me Out opened on Off-Broadway at the Joseph Papp Public Theater. The following year, Take Me Out opened on Broadway at the Walter Kerr Theatre. There, the play ran for more than 350 performances. It also won the Tony Award back in 2003 for the Best Play. The play has continued to show in a variety of other capacities since then, sharing its important message of locker room issues that exist not only in baseball but in other sports as well.
