A guitar virtuoso

Growing up in a military household that moved a lot, young Stephen Stills was exposed to a variety of musical genres. He left college early and pursued music through various bands, but it wasn't until the group Buffalo Springfield kicked off that he found success. A single he wrote, "For What It's Worth," became a national hit, even though Buffalo Springfield disbanded shortly after. Soon he joined forces with David Crosby and Graham Nash to form Crosby, Stills, & Nash. Their debut album was a resounding success, snagging them the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Stephen Stills broke out on his own in 1970 with a star-studded debut album that featured Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Ringo Starr, and others. His most recent solo album, Just Roll Tape, was released in 2007, but over the years he's collaborated with other talented artists. In 2017 he worked with former sweetheart Judy Collins to release Everybody Knows.
