Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller met in Los Angeles as teenagers, finding a musical kinship together. They started collaborating together, getting their first big break with "Hard Times," recorded by Charles Brown in 1952. From there, they went on to write for some of the biggest names in music, including Elvis Presley, The Drifters, Ben E. King, and more. They were honored in the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1985 and in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
