Born Robert Ginyard in New York City, Rob Base was an entertainer from the start. He met Rodney Bryce when they were kids, the two of them performing with the Sureshot Seven while in school. After graduation, Bryce – now dubbed DJ E-Z Rock – and Rob Base decided to break out on their own. In 1988 they released their breakout record, It Takes Two. The album spawned several popular singles, songs like "It Takes Two," "Joy and Pain," and "Put The Music Where Your Mouth Is." Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock were kings of the club. In 1989 Rob Base struck out on his own, releasing The Incredible Base. Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock reunited in 1994 to release a new album, Break of Dawn. In 2014 DJ E-Z Rock tragically passed away due to a diabetic seizure, but his legacy lives on. "It Takes Two" is still one of the most famous singles of the 1980s, appearing in songs by artists like Snoop Dogg and Ciara and in movies like Iron Man 2 and The Proposal.
