Rae Sremmurd is the newest hip hop duo featuring brothers Khalif "Swae Lee" and Aaquil "Slim Jimmy" Brown. They were originally in a three man rap group called Dem Outta St8 Boyz but it was short lived. The brothers are two years apart but play off of one another's sound quite nicely and are enjoying the quick success of their career together, especially considering they had seen tougher times. At one point before their fame, the brothers have admitted that they were homeless. Curious about their name? Read it backwards - it actually says Ear Drummers, which is an alias for Mike WiLL's production syndicate.

Breaking onto the scene
They made their debut on Mike WiLL Made It's 2013 song "We." Rae Sremmurd is currently most famous for their singles "No Flex Zone," "Throw Sum Mo" and "No Type," which all hit the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and collaborated with famous rap artists Nicki Minaj and Young Thug. "No Flex Zone" and "No Type" performed so well with audiences they received platinum certifications. Many people compare Rae Sremmurd's sound to Kriss Kross, though they credit rapper Soulja Boy for some of their influence, saying their sound has a mix of both hip hop and pop.

Big venues
Back in the day, they used to rap at house parties and talent competitions.
