Growing up in San Diego, Nick Cannon's early years were tumultuous, given his involvement in the Lincoln Park Bloods. However, he also found an outlet in music and he left the gang, rapping with his friend as the Da G4 Dope Bomb Squad. They opened for Will Smith, LFO, and 98 Degrees. His first album came out in 2003, but soon his music career was sidelined for acting and comedy. In 2005 he debuted a new comedy show Wild 'N Out, which was brought back by MTV2 in 2013, going on to be one of the network's highest rated shows. The sketch comedy show pits comedians against each other in improv games and parody rap battles and has featured everyone from Kevin Hart to Kanye West, the Pussycat Dolls to Method Man. In 2018, Cannon created a live Wild 'N Out show to take on tour around the nation. Cannon started hosting America's Got Talent in 2009, presenting some of the nation's most talented performers until he stepped down in 2016. In 2011, he premiered his first stand-up special on Showtime. Mr. Showbiz was recorded at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas and hit No. 3 on the US Comedy charts.
