An Undeterred Force

Loyola's team has had an integral place in the school's history for decades, though in recent years it has started staking out more territory. The Greyhounds moved up to Division I in 1981, gaining traction in the 1990s as part of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. In 1994 they made their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament under the leadership of Skip Prosser, who helmed the team for one season only. After a tumultuous decade, the Greyhounds made a return to the conference under Coach Jimmy Patsos, falling to #2 Ohio State. The following year Loyola also made it all the way to the quarterfinals in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament, eventually losing to East Carolina. In 2013 Loyola moved over to the Patriot League, where they worked hard under Coach G.G. Smith to establish their corner of the court. After Smith stepped down in 2018, Tavaras Hardy stepped up to replace him. Now all eyes are on the Greyhounds to see what new advanced they will make in the conference.
