From talent shows to international stardom

Kodaline has its origins in childhood friendship, sparked when Steve Garrigan and Mark Prendergast discovered their musical kinship. Together with Vinny May and Jason Boland, the musicians first started performing together as 21 Demands. They began to gain popularity in their home country of Ireland when they competed on the TV talent show You're A Star, and their single "Give Me a Minute" launched them to the top of the Irish Singles chart. In 2012, they released their debut EP, now as Kodaline, with their first LP following the year after. They garnered buzz immediately, receiving nominations for MTV's Brand New for 2013 and BBC's Sound of 2013. The single "All I Want" set them on the international stage as it was used for TV shows and movies like Grey's Anatomy and The Fault in Our Stars. Their sophomore record, Coming Up for Air, came out in 2015, cracking the Top Ten of the UK Albums chart. In 2018 the band started teasing the release of their third album with singles like "Brother" and "Follow Your Fire."
