Groundhog Day Tickets

Based on the 1993 film Groundhog Day starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell, Tim Minchin brings the film to the stage in a musical performance. The musical made its debut on August 16th, 2016 in the UK and it opened in the United States a few months later. The musical follows the life of the unpleasant weatherman Phil Connors as he covers Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Phil ends up waking up the next day realizing that it is Groundhog Day all over again. He finds himself repeating the same day over and over again.

Groundhog Day is an annual event that is hosted in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania every February 2^nd. Thousands come every year to see if groundhog Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow. If the groundhog see’s his shadow that means winter will last for another 6 weeks. If he does not see his shadow than that means, there will be an early spring.

In 2016, Groundhog Day the Musical received multiple awards for Theatrical Event of the Year, Best Direction of a New Production of a Musical, Best Lighting of a New Production of a Play or Musical, and Best Set Design of a New Production of a Play of Musical from BroadwayWorld UK / West End Awards.

In 2017, Groundhog Day the Musical won the award for Best Musical (New or Revival) from WhatsOnStage Awards. The musical was also awarded Best New Musical and Best Actor in a Musical from Laurence Olivier Awards. Also, Andy Karl won two Outstanding Actor in a Musical awards.
