Governors Ball Music Festival Tickets
About Governors Ball Music Festival
The inaugural Governors Ball Music Festival kicked off on New York City's Governors Island June 18, 2011. Although it featured just one day of music and entertainment, it drew a record-setting crowd of concert goers. There were more people in attendance at that first festival than any other event in the island's history. Produced by an independent festival promotion company Founders Entertainment, the festival, which is often called GovBall, quickly made a name for itself. It was moved to Randall's Island the following year to provide more space for eager attendees and by 2013, the festival had grown from the original one-day lineup of 12 artists to three full days of music, food and non-stop dancing. GovBall cheap tickets were selling like candy. One of the founders, Jordan Wolowitz, has spoken of the unique experience that sets GovBall apart from the hundreds of other music festivals, asserting that after the incredible line-up is the good "Gotham City" vibe. A visible New York City skyline can be seen from the island, local food trucks and vendors are brought in and a number of New York artists are featured. These days, GovBall attracts an average of 150,000 people who come to enjoy more than 60 performers over the course of the multi-day, city-style music festival.
New location and time
After the festival's first year, GovBall was moved to Randall's Island in New York City, New York, where it has remained ever since. Situated just outside of the loud, chaotic and overcrowded city of Manhattan, the island is an escape for thousands of people to gather together to share their love for music each year. A number of stages, beer tents, lawn games, food vendors and trucks spill onto the lawns, surrounded by miles of oceanfront walking and bike paths. Held in June each year, the GovBall festival is the unofficial kick-off to summer for many people.
