Preserving the Country Way of Life
The first Farm Aid event was held in 1985, put together by Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, and Neil Young after hearing stirring comments by Bob Dylan about the nation's farming communities. With the changing world, many family farmers struggle with new economic challenges. The Farm Aid concert provides financial assistance to family farmers, helping them retain ownership of their homes, offering mental health assistance, and providing support in legal issues. The debut Farm Aid concert saw performances by some of the biggest names in country, as well as the music industry as a whole – Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, John Denver, Joni Mitchell, B.B. King, and the Beach Boys, to name just a few.
The 2018 Farm Aid concert, like always, featured some of entertainment's brightest names. In addition to the three founders, Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds, Chris Stapleton, Margo Price, and others gave performances. If you thought the 2018 lineup was good, the 2019 lineup was even better. It included stars like Bonnie Raitt, Jamey Johnson, and Tanya Tucker. Some of your favorites from 2018 came back for the 2019 festival too. This was definitely a lineup worth waiting for.
