Rocking into the MTV era

Edward Mahoney was on track to follow in his father's footsteps and become a police officer. But the siren call of music became too strong, and he left the police department to devote himself to music. He relocated to Berkeley, getting his foot in the door by performing on the local circuit. In 1977 he released his first album, his career on the rise with singles like "Baby Hold On" and "Two Tickets to Paradise." His music paired well with the growing demand for music videos on MTV, but in the early 1980s his career floundered. Struggling to keep a drug addiction in check, Money faded from the scene for a bit. However he came back strong in 1986 with Can't Hold Back. He continued to release albums throughout the 1990s, though fans suffered through a drought of new music between 1999's Ready Eddie and 2007's Wanna Go Back. Though Eddie Money has not issued any new records since then, he continues to delight fans with his energetic live shows.
