Spreading wings with the Eagles
Growing up in Texas, Don Henley's main hobby was playing football. But when he realized he'd never be built enough for the game, he turned his attention to band instead. As a teenager, Don Henley joined a Dixieland band. He moved to Los Angeles with the band, but the group fell apart over creative differences. The seed of the Eagles started in 1971 when Don Henley and Glenn Frey worked as backup musicians for Linda Ronstadt. Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon completed the lineup, and in 1972 the Eagles released their debut album. Don Henley's voice is known all over the world from singles like "Hotel California," "Life in the Fast Lane," and "Desperado."
A captivating solo career
When the Eagles broke up in 1980, Don Henley embarked on a solo career. He released I Can't Stand Still in 1982. He released two more albums in the 1980s with hit singles like "The Boys of Summer" and "New York Minute." In recent years, he has delved deeper into country music, including singing duets with Kenny Rogers and Reba McEntire and releasing a compilation album of country covers.
