About Disclosure
Brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence make the up the electronic music duo Disclosure. Both were born and raised in Reigate, Surrey, England. The brothers enjoyed music from an early age, focusing on the subject at school and playing instruments such as the drums and bass. During their teenage years, Guy played as a drummer in a local band while Howard was primarily inspired by more conventional singer/songwriters: Electronic music was on neither of their radars. This changed after Guy turned 18 and started frequenting nightclubs, where he heard and fell in love with electronic music. Howard soon followed suit, developing a passion for electronic sound, and the brothers began experimenting with producing their own work.
Finding early success
The brothers found quick success after posting some of their early work on
the social media site MySpace. The work garnered a significant amount of attention, and the duo soon signed up with record
label Moshi Moshi in 2010, which released two early tracks as singles - "Streetlight Chronicle" and "Offline Dexterity." By
2011 Disclosure had released their first extended playlist entitled "Carnival." The EP was a hit, and the brothers
continued to cultivate a growing fanbase. Cheap tickets to their sets became hot commodities, and artists such as Emeli
Sande and Jess Mills were soon recruiting the duo to work on remixes of their popular tracks.
Chart
toppers
The brothers truly hit the big time in 2012, however, after releasing a number of critically and
commercially successful tracks. Singer Sam Smith featured on the hit
track "Latch," which first hit the No.11 spot on the British singles charts, before climbing to No.7 on the U.S. Billboard
Hot 100 charts. Collaborations with other artists such as Eliza
Doolittle and AlunaGeorge were also released in the same year,
with the single "You and Me," a collaboration with the aformentioned Dolittle, again entering the top 20 singles chart.
Disclosure released their debut album, "Settle," in the summer of 2013. It was an instant success, shooting to No.1 in the
British album chart and consolidating Disclosure's reputation as one of the most innovative and exciting electronic music
acts of recent times. Cheap Disclosure tickets became difficult to come by, as the duo's fame contiued to increase on both
sides of the Atlantic.
Accolades, awards, and grammys
Awards recognition soon followed, with
""Settle"" earning the Lawrence brothers their first Grammy nomination. Late 2014 saw the brothers collaborate with famed
American soul Mary J. Blige on select tracks from her renowned album, "The London Sessions." A second album, titled
"Caracal," arrived in the fall of 2015, with tracks featuring collaborations with a number of big named stars including The Weekend, Sam Smith
and Lorde . With a number of plans in the offiing, inlcluding a new album
