Trouble turned into music
Growing up in Baton Rouge, Torrence Hatch Jr. was part of a new Louisiana hip hop scene. As a teen, he started learning from C-Loc and Young Bleed, joining the Concentration Camp collective in 1996. He began collaborating with the Concentration Camp crew on albums in 2000, and later that year he released Youngest of da Camp. He teamed up with artists like Webbie and Lil Phat, prolifically releasing new music over the next years, leading up to signing with Warner Bros. Records. In 2006 he released Bad Azz, featuring "Zoom" with Yung Joc. After several years of new music, Boosie ended up in jail on drug and gun charges. He pushed forward with his music, releasing Incarcerated in 2010. Boosie found his music elevated to another level while in prison, moving away from the label hip hop to reality rap. After he got out of jail in 2014, he released Life After Deathrow, with contributions from Yo Gotti, Trey Songz, LIV, and Shy Glizzy.
