A unique fusion of spectacle and sophistication
The band got its start in 1967 with the name Soft White Underbelly, but it was only after a few years and a few lineup changes that the group got some traction. Redubbed Blue Öyster Cult after a line in one of their manager's poems, the band released their debut album in 1972. Their second album featured a contribution by Patti Smith, and by the release of their third record they were headlining their own tours. Throughout the 1970s, hits like "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" and "Godzilla" established them as rock heavyweights, and Blue Öyster Cult concerts became famous for their pioneering use of lasers. With the debut of MTV, Blue Öyster Cult's music videos helped innovate the art form and increase their popularity. However, in the 1980s Blue Öyster Cult fans suffered through a drought of new music. Finally, Heaven Forbid came out in 1998, over ten years since their previous album. While the lineup has changed over the years, the band remains a touring powerhouse, rocking fans just as hard as they did at the beginning of their career.
With a new album out in 2018, fans are eager to get into Blue Öyster Cult concerts. Jam to old favorites and new hits by getting your cheap Blue Öyster Cult tickets here!
