The Leading Underdog

The Atlanta Legends are one of the original charter members of the Alliance of American Football, playing out of Atlanta, GA. The team shares their home venue, the Georgia State Stadium, with the Georgia Panthers football team. They also share the same home city as the Atlanta Falcons of the NFL, making them the only two professional football teams in the area. When the league announced their list of teams, the Legends were one of the first to be named and given branding guidelines. The colors as well as the name of the team pay tribute to historical figures from the city, including both Martin Luther King Jr. and Hank Aaron. After some coaching staff rearrangement days before the season opener, the Legends played their first game against the Orlando Apollos at their home stadium in Orlando, the Spectrum Stadium. After a rough loss of 6-40 the Legends were forced to regroup for their home opener at the Georgia State Stadium against the Birmingham Iron. With a score of 28-12, the Legends lost their home opener. Off to a rocky start, this young team has a lot to prove in the 2019 AAF season.
