The 2022 American League Division Series is set! Here's a breakdown of the four teams vying to advance to the American League Championship Series

New York Yankees vs Cleveland Guardians

MLB's youngest team will face one of the most experienced and seasoned teams in this year's American League Division Series. The Guardians made quick work of the Tampa Bay Rays in the Wild Card round. New York's roster features some of the best hitters in baseball, led by home run leader and AL-MVP frontrunner, Aaron Judge. New York's lineup will have its work cut out against a Cleveland pitching staff that only surrendered nine hits in its first two games.

Cleveland's sweep of Tampa Bay means that pitchers Shane Bieber and Tristan McKenzie could become available early in the series. Gerrit Cole will start Game 1 for the Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

Seattle Mariners vs Houston Astros

Seattle's remarkable season will continue as they advance to face fellow AL West division rivals, the Houston Astros. The Astros who come into the round with the best record in the American League (106-56). Seattle swept the Toronto Blue Jays in the Wild Card Series. The series kicks off at Minute Maid Park .

Houston will look to establish an early series lead with Al Cy Young-favorite Justin Verlander slated to start Game 1. The Astros could attack the Mariners from different angles but look for offense to establish this series. Both teams have lineups that can light up the scoreboard. Houston owns their regular season series 12-7, so Seattle is going to need to set the tone early and continue their late season momentum.
