Lions roar - The Dallas Cowboys ended the 1991-1992 campaign with an 11-5 record and faced the Detroit Lions in the playoffs. The two teams had met earlier in the season too and that clash was won by the Lions. On January 5, 1992, at the Pontiac Silverdome, the Lions repeated their form and trounced the Cowboys 38-6.
A comeback for the ages -The Dallas Cowboys and the Detroit Lions faced off on January 4, 2015, at the AT&T Stadium. The Lions went up 14-0 in the first quarter. The Cowboys scored seven points in the second quarter but the Lions scored three points too to lead 17-7. The Cowboys responded with another seven points in the third quarter, compared to the Lions’ 3. The Lions were still ahead by 20-14. The Cowboys then rolled the dice in the fourth quarter scored ten unanswered points to win 24-20. This was perhaps one of the most famous comebacks in Cowboys history.

The Dallas Cowboys have had players like Roger Staubach represent them. Staubach made it to six Pro Bowls and led the Dallas Cowboys to two Super Bowl wins. For his contributions, he has also been made a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Emmitt Smith played his part in helping Dallas clinch three Super Bowls. He has also been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Then there is Troy Aikman and he was arguably the heart of the Cowboys’ team of the 1990s that won three Super Bowl titles. Aikman is also a Pro Football Hall of Famer.
At the Detroit Lions side of things, there are plenty of big names who have delivered for the team and at the top of that list is the great Barry Sanders. He became a ten time Pro Bowl pick, won the NFL MVP and a two time NFL Offensive Player of the Year with the Lions. The Lions won three league titles in the 1950’s and Bobby Layne was a central figure in all those three triumphs. Calvin Johnson is another Lions’ star worth mentioning. He was a part of the Lions’ roster between 2007 and 2015. During that time, he became a six time Pro Bowl pick and set the record for the most yards received (1,964) in a single NFL season.
