About Baltimore Ravens vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers and the Ravens first met on September 8, 1996, and this is when one of the fiercest rivalries in the NFL began. It is described as one of the most intense and emotional rivalries in all of sports, and for a good reason. Both teams are known for hard-hitting defensive lineups, making the game of football extra physically intensive. Until 2016, these AFC North rivals had played 46 games between them, out of which 27 were decided by a single point, and 19 games by three points or less. They have faced each other in the playoffs on four occasions, out of which on two occasions, the winner reached the Super Bowl.
More than historic, bitter and fierce, the Ravens and the Steelers have the most meaningful rivalry in all of sports, which unsurprisingly has produced many memorable moments.
A Few Memorable Moments from this Rivalry
Steelers vs Super Bowl Champions- It was January 20, 2002, and the Steelers were hosting the reigning Super Bowl champions, Ravens, in a playoff game. Ravens, being the defending champions, had indulged in some trash talk throughout the regular season and therefore when they traveled to Pittsburgh, the air in Heinz Field was tense. However, it was the Steelers fans who had the last laugh as their team won the game 27-10. A season full of trash talk from the Ravens made this playoff victory extra sweet for the Steelers.
Bittersweet- On November 7, 2011, Torrey Smith, Ravens rookie wide receiver, caught the 26-yard TD with eight seconds on the clock, giving his team 23-20 victory over the Steelers. It was not just another victory for the Ravens, but it set them on a path to the first AFC North championship under Head Coach John Harbaugh. However, this was also the last time Ray Lewis played in this rivalry.

Ravens and Steelers Hall of Famers
The Steelers list shadows the Ravens Hall of Fame list in numbers. Some of the greatest Steelers include,
Joe Green – One of the best defensive linemen ever. “Mean” Joe Green was a 10-time Pro Bowler, who won four Super Bowl Championships.
Jack Lambert – Lambert was one of the best linebackers in NFL history. He was a nine-time Pro Bowler, who won four Super Bowl Championships.
Mel Blount – One of the most physical cornerbacks to ever play football, Blount was a five-time Pro Bowler and won four Super Bowls.
The Ravens Hall of Fame players list may be short, but it packs a punch nevertheless.
Jonathan Ogden – From 1997 to 2007, Ogden consistently made the Pro Bowl selection every year. He is also the first Raven to be selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Rod Woodson – Woodson played four seasons with the Ravens, which were enough for the growth of Ray Lewis, who would later end up becoming the best defensive player of all time for the Ravens.
Ray Lewis – While Lewis is not (yet) inducted into Ravens Hall of Fame, it would not surprise anyone when he finally gets the nod. Ravens Middle Linebacker, Lewis is a five time First-Team All-Pro.
