A Modern Twist to a Classic Tale
While the story of The Nutcracker dates back to 1892, Boston’s version of the story has ties more recent to the modern world. Debuting in 2012, Mikko Nissinen and the Boston Ballet have annually put on a unique rendition of the classic tale. After being gifted a beautiful nutcracker at her family Christmas ball, the young Clara falls asleep under the tree for a quick nap. Little did she know she would be embarking on a magical journey of a lifetime! Alongside her now live nutcracker prince, Clara travels through the Kingdom of Sweets fighting off the evil Mouse King and meeting the Sugar Plum Fairy. Come morning will Clara remember her adventures from the night before or will they be swept away like all before it?
