About Journey
Composed of members from the hit bands Santana and Frumious Bandersnatch, Journey formed as band in 1973 in San Francisco. Originally Journey got their start as a backup band for Bay Area artists and they were under the moniker Golden Gate Rhythm Section. After realizing they were so much more than a backup band, they broke out on their own and officially became known as Journey. After mediocre album sales the band hired front man Steve Perry as an attempt to make their sound more mainstream. In 1978 they released their fourth album Infinity, which would launch the group to the top of the charts. With new band members and a new sound, Journey had found themselves a new fan base that guided them on their way to the top. Throughout their career they have released some of the most iconic songs of their time including “Don’t Stop Believin’”, “Wheel in the Sky”, and “Open Arms”. After several years of highs and lows, and even a hiatus, Journey remains one of the best-selling bands of all time.
