The private island was a nice touch but expect boat delays. It takes 20 minutes to get there and back. Most of the waiting staff was rude and forgetful except Pedro (bartender belle vista bar). They upcharged everything from sunblock ($40) to clothing! Drinks were around $12 and very limited selection. The resort fees are outrageous! The valet and self parking staff were nice but expect to tip (includingself parking). The rooms had amazing views but the rooms are dirty. The beds were uncomfortable. The waterpark is nice. 3 adult slides and a lazy river.

This resort was great. Friendly staff, and beautiful property. I was a little disappointed with the restaurants on the property, but there are plenty of great options off the resort. They offer trips to different excursions - including the rain forest. They charge $130 per person for the trip, but I went on trip advisor and got a tour for $30 and me and my husband just rented the on-site rental car. We basically saved an arm and a leg (plus their tour requires 4 people together to book and we were just 2). We went to the el conquistador island with their ferry - we didn't even know this existed until the last day. There was no signage or information/brochures - which I recommend the hotel makes - that advertise this. But the island is beautiful and there are 2 bars and rental equipment like kayaks and stuff that you can rent. The ferry goes there once an hour and its only a 10-15 minute ride. So worth it! All in all - this was a great price, friendly people, and the island you can ferry to makes it worth it! The car rental on site was fast and easy to handle!

The property was pulchritudinous. I was perturbed about the check-in process. I had just turned 53; traveled all day and night on my born day to be subjected to a hellacious deposit that was unbeknownst to be. Expedia is the worst as well! It took almost two weeks for the hold to come off! My room was oaid for in full. I was not there long…again, I would not damage anything in the room. To have my money tied up was perturbing!

El Conquistador is an AMAZING resort! The person who dreamt this place up was a GENIUS. The amazing pool deck is like you're in Italy over looking the Mediterranean from up high, or imagine Caesar's Palace's pools overlooking the Caribbean. This place has amazing hot tubs, pools, an awesome water park with great slides, its own private island with beach which easy is to get to by frequent and fast hotel boat rides, a golf course, and good dining options. Staff is great and friendly. Our room in the Las Brisas wing had a great balcony with comfy chairs, and spectacular views of the ocean and surrounding area. I highly recommend this resort! Thank you to the entire team for a great stay!!

Hotel has not been renovated in full. Only some areas and towers are renovated. In my opinion the renovations were made on the cheaper side. But it’s still a beautiful hotel.

Had a great stay at the resort. Once you get over the overwhelming size of the resort, it is very nice. My kids and I had amazing stay. The waterpark and island are such great options. The pools were great and most of all, every single staff member were genuinely nice and friendly. Definitely want to return in the future.

Great resort. Very large and plenty of options for eating and activities. Would have given 5 stars, but some maintenance in the rooms was poorly done ( paint spots from repainting on everything in the room)

Although this is far from the airport, the property was beautiful and ideal for young children. The access to the private island was convenient. Our only negative experience was when it rained, we sat by the cabanas and we were told to move, even though it meant we would get wet. Other than that, everyone else was extremely pleasant and accommodating. We’d definitely go back.

We went during the slowest season, despite that, there is no entertainment at the resort besides a DJ in the lobby . For the price my family and I love the activities and entertainment when traveling, there was none. And everything closed super early or just closed despite the listed hours. The lift and water park was completely down 1 day so very limited options . We love this resort but this years stay was not so great
