The private island was a nice touch but expect boat delays. It takes 20 minutes to get there and back. Most of the waiting staff was rude and forgetful except Pedro (bartender belle vista bar). They upcharged everything from sunblock ($40) to clothing! Drinks were around $12 and very limited selection. The resort fees are outrageous! The valet and self parking staff were nice but expect to tip (includingself parking). The rooms had amazing views but the rooms are dirty. The beds were uncomfortable. The waterpark is nice. 3 adult slides and a lazy river.

This resort was great. Friendly staff, and beautiful property. I was a little disappointed with the restaurants on the property, but there are plenty of great options off the resort. They offer trips to different excursions - including the rain forest. They charge $130 per person for the trip, but I went on trip advisor and got a tour for $30 and me and my husband just rented the on-site rental car. We basically saved an arm and a leg (plus their tour requires 4 people together to book and we were just 2). We went to the el conquistador island with their ferry - we didn't even know this existed until the last day. There was no signage or information/brochures - which I recommend the hotel makes - that advertise this. But the island is beautiful and there are 2 bars and rental equipment like kayaks and stuff that you can rent. The ferry goes there once an hour and its only a 10-15 minute ride. So worth it! All in all - this was a great price, friendly people, and the island you can ferry to makes it worth it! The car rental on site was fast and easy to handle!

I wish I could upload pictures and videos. They claim they closed for 3 years to remodel.... Well they forgot the guest rooms. The most important part to me is where I'm laying my head and wash room. I ran away and even didn't care that they didn't reimburse me for the 1st night. Thankfully I booked through Expedia which is where I book all my flights and hotels. So they reimbursed me me what the hotel wouldn't.

Our stay at El Conquistador was nothing short of spectacular. Every employee we encountered from the front desk, to the valet, to the servers on Palomino Island (Erwin!), to the spa personnel, to the restaurant staff were friendly, professional and efficient. The hotel and grounds were meticulously maintained and our room was beautiful. I highly recommend this property, we have already booked again for next year.

We loved the family atmosphere of El Conquistador resort. We have a 14 and 17 year old and felt comfortable having them navigate the resort together without us. We had two unpleasant experiences. First, the beds were the most uncomfortable beds we've ever slept on. Sleeping on them for a week was horrible. Second, about 5 days into our 7 day stay a conference came to stay full of hundreds of 20 something year olds. This really took away from the 'family resort' atmosphere as there was constant drinking and loud noises at all hours of the night. From moving patio furniture at 3 am to yelling loudly to playing loud music, it made the last few nights unpleasant.

Everything about El Conquistador is amazing! While driving up the long driveway, you see the resort on top of the mountain like a castle. There are gentlemen to greet you right at your car for parking and bags. Check in was quick and easy. The entire staff, wherever you went, were friendly and helpful. The resort is clean with amazing private views. It's like its own little town. I will defiantly coming back.
