"This is not our first stay here. We like to stay at the Valley Ford Hotel when we are visiting family in Sonoma County, so we've been here several times. We appreciate the rural location, the great food downstairs in the restaurant (and breakfast at the cafe across the street), and other local amenities, like the grocery and the creamery. The night before Thanksgiving we rolled in right before the restaurant closed and had dinner at the bar, in friendly, comfortable surroundings, then climbed up the stairs and went to bed. The room was spotless, but not the tiniest bit fancy. The furniture is stripped pine. Our bed was comfortable and the sheets were crisp. There is a ceiling fan in the room, and a space heater if needed. A coffee bar is in the hallway. This is not a luxury stay but a great, basic stay in a cute, tiny town. It is so much nicer than a motel for a quick stay. One caveat: The stairs are steep (all rooms are upstairs) and you are responsible for your own luggage. "
